Monika Dzilbutė, a student of the Company Administration study programme at the Alytus Faculty of Kauno kolegija HEI, took on the challenge of a long-term “Erasmus+” mobility this summer and completed her internship at LABAS CLG – a non-governmental organization in Ireland working in the fields of migrant integration, community initiatives, and business development.
During the two-month internship, Monika deepened her knowledge in organizational process management and administration, worked as an interpreter, and helped organize meetings and events. She actively observed local business development processes, contributed to addressing community challenges, and was involved in various social initiatives.
“Every day, I saw how businesses grow and develop, what obstacles arise, and we tried to find solutions, sponsors, and partners. I worked as an interpreter and an assistant“, – Monika has shared her experience.
In addition to her main duties at the organization, the student actively participated in local community life: she volunteered, traveled, explored Irish culture, and even auditioned for a film role, reviving an old dream of trying out acting. Thanks to her initiative, interest in international processes, and active involvement with LABAS CLG, Monika also had the opportunity to engage with the Lithuanian Embassy in Ireland. She contributed by providing information on economic developments relevant to Lithuanian business, tourism, and cooperation expansion.
“It was a great joy to hear that the information I collected was useful,” Monika said of her experience.
One of the most memorable moments of Monika’s trip was the opportunity to attend an event with the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, during their visit to Ireland. At the event, Monika had the chance to listen to the President’s inspiring speech, shake his hand, and briefly present her studies at the Alytus Faculty of Kauno kolegija HEI.
“This internship exceeded my expectations and opened the door to a completely new and unexpected world of international opportunities. I gained new knowledge, improved my practical and language skills, made valuable connections for my career development, and most importantly – met inspiring people who boosted my self-confidence and helped to shape a new path for my life goals. Would I choose to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility again if given the chance? Absolutely yes!“, – Monika has shared her impressions.
Kauno kolegija HEI actively encourages students to participate in the international mobilities, especially through the Erasmus+ programme, which offers one of the greatest opportunities not only to discover the world but also to apply the knowledge gained during studies in an international environment and acquire key skills valued in the job market. We are happy and proud that our student bravely accepted this challenge and became a great example of international experience and an inspiring story for others.
